The same thing happened in this suspenseful, cryptic yet exploitative film. The director made me guess who is the victim until the end. He even resorted to using our innate stereotypes on humans. Moreover, I like when a movie can make me realize that I guessed the entire thing wrong. I can't pinpoint what I like but I really like this one for all the suspense and thrills it gives me. Tbh, it's been long that psychological thrillers don't give me thrills. Yu Aoi is making some really interesting choices lately and I'm looking forward to probably soon seeing her go full serial killer in a movie I guess the best description of this, without giving too much away, it is a romantic psychological thriller. The performance by Yu Aoi is top notch. She leads you on a roller coaster ride as to who she is. Yū Aoi plays an unstable woman who's obsessed with her abusive ex and disgusted by her supportive thought this would be a thriller, but it played out more like a lewd sexual drama based around a character who we have little sympathy for. I personally never understood why anyone would want to return to an abusive relationship, so that aspect went over my head. At no point did I feel a sense of urgency for any of the characters and I found the drama element rather performances overall and once again Yū shows her versatility by playing someone we can almost despise, as she is rude to anyone she deems not worthy of her attention. I… “If you are happy,” says Jinji “I am happy.” Towako takes him at his word. She lets Jinji take care of her with his hard-earned money, cooking, housework, massages and emotional support, even as she keeps him at arm’s length, calls him a slug, idealizes her abusive ex-lover and hooks up with others. Jinji has faith that Towako will open her eyes. After all, those who would take cake out of the wheat, said Shakespeare, must tarry in the grinding. Yet the grinding gets nearly impossible when the police come to ask Towako about the disappearance of her idolized complex, surprising, stylish and touching film reveals just how much people often suffer in holding onto ideals of love… Oof. What a premise hints at some kind of crime/erotic/psychological thriller action the synopsis on the TIFF website says it "echoes Brian de Palma and Park Chan-wook", but the film actually reveals itself to be a rather straightforward character drama, with the thriller elements being secondary to the story at the characters here are not all that complex or interesting. The protagonist Towako has no inner life or personality outside of her relationships with the three male characters Jinji, her perpetually cheerful benefactor; Mizushima, the weak-willed salesman she has an affair with; Kurosaki, her violently abusive ex-boyfriend. Her obsession with Kurosaki is at least somewhat believable though still lacking in context, but trauma can't explain her… Thought this would be sad but it was very sexy… I did shed a single tear though. Yu Aoi supremacy Asian Film Festival 2017It is weird for me, who watched young Yu Aoi in her debut in Shunji Iwai's All About Lily Chouchou and her remarkable ballet sequence in Hana and Alice to doing racy scenes in Birds Without Kazuya Shiraishi, who worked as an assistant director to Isao Yukisada channels influence from the latter's cinematic style. True enough, the strength of this film is its cinematography. As much as I love Yu Aoi, she is uninteresting here—nothing but still not over an old lover. It's also disappointing how the film tries to portray Jinji Sadao Abe as this filthy, love-obsessed guy to Yu, only to make him a martyr at the last 5-10 minutes of the… It's easier said than done moving on from your ex, especially when they've shown you "care" and "attention" you lacked during your upbringing.. Yu Aoi Supremacy also the male lead is perfect This film was quite hard for me to understand at the start [watched without English subs]. However, I must've got used to it because, about twenty minutes in, it became much easier! There is something horrible about everyone in this. I enjoyed all of the actors portraying this too. For the most part, I just cringed or was horrified by how awful they the same time, there is a level of empathy at some points, most character though... I don't like that he's portrayed as a 'nice guy'. I really didn't like that, especially coupled with how it ended which I felt was a bit abrupt, but okay. I do not at all support an idea…2017 Birds Without Names (2017) ยู อาโออิ ในบทบาทสาวใจแตก (เปลือยแต่ไม่โป๊) กับรางวัลนักแสดงนำหญิงยอดเยี่ยม หนังสร้างจากนิยาย Kanojo ga Sono Mei wo Shiranai Toritachi
